THE HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT: A CALL TO ACTION AGAINST RACISM AND POLITICAL FAILURE
Location: Queens Crescent Community Association, 45 Ashdown Crescent, London NW5 4QE
Date: Thursday 18 September 2025
Time: 7 - 9pm
Free Entry – Open to All
Join us for a landmark event uniting communities, campaigners, artists, and activists in a powerful stand against the growing “hostile environment” by the far-right racists – and the growing failure of political leadership to confront it.
From Windrush to Grenfell, from police discrimination to systemic inequality – Britain’s story of racial injustice is long and unresolved. And today, under Keir Starmer’s Labour government, silence and political compromise are replacing action and accountability.
While hate crimes rise, racial disparities in health, education, and justice remain unaddressed. The Labour leadership has sidelined grassroots voices, failed to confront institutional racism, and abandoned meaningful commitments to racial justice.
This is not what we were promised.
This is not the leadership we deserve or want.
What to expect:
* Keynote speeches from leading anti-racism voices in Camden, community activists and members from voluntary organisations.
* Panel discussions on:
1. The failures of Labour’s leadership under Keir Starmer.
2. Institutional racism in British policing and public services.
3. Building a truly inclusive political movement from different organisations from the community in Camden.
4. Fighting against Islamophobia, racism, colonialism, imperialism and for reparations.
5. Promoting free speech and building unity.
Speakers include:
* Andrew Feinstein - former ANC MP, candidate against Holborn and St. Pancras (2024 General Election), activist, filmmaker, specialises in the investigation of the arms trade and the corruption that accompanies it.
* Luke Daniels - Caribbean Labour Solidarity and Camden Trades Council.
* Muhammad Chowdhury - Chairperson for Camden Muslim Network and representative of The Muslim Vote in Camden.
* Amrit Wilson - South Asia Solidarity Group - writer, journalist and activist focused on issues of race and gender in Britain and South Asian politics.
* Speakers from the Migrants Rights Network, Camden Anti-Raids and independent councillor candidates to be confirmed.
“Silence is complicity. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
This is more than a protest. It’s a reckoning.
We will NOT be ignored. We will NOT be divided.
We will rise — louder, stronger, and UNITED.
SPEAK OUT. SHOW UP. STAND FIRM. SIGN UP. SAY NOT IN CAMDEN.
